Arbors, trellises & garden arches

Cedar or Douglas Fir, with the same joinery and oak pegs as our pavilions. A smaller structure does not get a smaller standard.

Small, not simple

Not every project needs to be a full pergola. A well-built arbor or garden arch can be the best thing in a yard.

We build them from cedar or Douglas Fir with the same mortise and tenon joinery and drawbored oak pegs we use on everything else. No shortcuts because it is smaller.

What you can ask for

Built-in seating. A trellis for climbing plants. A statement entrance on a garden path. We also build wedding arches, timber gates and upscale planter boxes. If you can picture it, tell us and we will tell you what it would take.

Questions

Before you ask

What wood do you use for arbors and trellises?

Cedar or Douglas Fir, your choice. The joinery is the same as on our pavilions: mortise and tenon, pinned with drawbored oak pegs.

Can a trellis have a bench built in?

Yes. One of our favorite builds is a cedar trellis with a bench mortised into the posts. Here is the story.

Do you build wedding arches and garden gates?

Yes to both. We also build planter boxes and timber gates for garden paths.

How big can an arbor be?

Any size. Small arbors and large arches get the same joinery and the same care.
